How to change views within a Smartsheet

Different Views within Smartsheet

Within Smartsheet there are different views available.

The Smartsheet view can be changed by Selecting from the 3 view icons in the left-hand navigation menu:

Grid view will bring up the classic spreadsheet view.

Gantt view shows a combination grid/calendar view, but will only display on those sheets that have specific Project Management functionality available. In order to use Gantt View, you must have at least two Date columns in your sheet: a start date and an end date.

Card View is about prioritization and organization, it is driven by the drop-down list, symbol, and contact list column types that offer multiple selections. These different selection options create the lanes in which to drop your cards.

Calendar View has specific settings which can be amended to change the way information is displayed.

The settings can be accessed by selecting the gear icon in the navigation menu that is displayed when you are in Calendar view:

The most useful setting to amend will probably be the Display Summary Tasks Checkbox

For instance, on the Staff Schedule Smartsheet - each person has a range of dates against their names for different types of absences (holiday, days in lieu, sickness etc).

When the Display Summary Tasks checkbox is ticked, the calendar will show the summary of all the dates in that person's record - so a date range may go from 3rd january to 28th december! This obviously makes for a messy and confused calendar.

Unchecking the Display Summary Tasks checkbox will just show any individual date ranges.
