Creating a report in Nprinting
Once you have created an Nprinting app and connected it to a Qlik Sense app, you can then use it to generate a report in various formats. For the purposes of this article, we will be creating an Excel based report.
On the top Nprinting menu, click "Reports". This will give you an overview of existing Nprinting reports. Click "Create report" to get started.
You will need to select a title, and the type of report. Then select the app you previously made a connection for. You can select a template if you have one you made previously, otherwise it will default to "Empty file" and allow you to create a new one from scratch.
This will bring you to a near identical page showing you the details you had filled in previously. To get started working on your report, click the "Edit template" in the top right of the screen. You will be prompted to open Qlik Nprinting Designer. If you don't have this installed, please contact IT who will assist you. Click "Open Qlik Nprinting Designer" to continue.
Now that the Nprinting Designer is open, you can start creating your report. For the report in this example, it opens up a version of Excel in the window, and you can add formatting and text as you would in an Excel spreadsheet. We want to add some Qlik Sense report elements however. On the left hand side of the designer, you have a selection of options. For this example I am going to use the "Tables" option.
Right click on the Tables option, then click "Add object". This will display a list of elements from your Qlik Sense report.
For most elements all you will have is an ID number. To find out the ID number of your objects within your Qlik Sense app, first you need to go to your Qlik Sense app, but add /options/developer to the end of the url.
This will allow you to right click on any of your Qlik Sense report elements, then click "Developer"
This will then display the object ID for you to lookup within the Nprinting Designer tool.
Now we know the ID of the object we wish to enter into the report. you can click it within the Select Objects section we opened before. This will then add it to the left hand side of your Tables tab within the Nprinting Developer tool. To add it to the report, simply click and drag it onto the report.
It's also a good idea to put the tags into a table when highlighting the headers. Go to the Insert tab > Tables > Table and make sure 'My table has headers' is ticked. You can create a pivot table/chart etc from it if needed.
You can click the "Preview" button at the top of the page to see how the table will look within the report itself.
There are a lot more options to add elements within a report, which vary depending on the report type itself. This however is the very basics of creating your own report from scratch, and the processes here are the same regardless of the type of report you are creating. When you are happy with your template, click the "Save And Close" button in the top left of the Nprinting Designer tool.
