Managing Data

What is my Data Allowance?

You have a certain amount of data included with your pickering phone - for most Pickering employees this is 20GB per month.

The data allowance resets on the 5th of every month.

How do I check Data Usage on my Phone?

1.Go into Settings

2. Select the arrow to the right of Mobile Data

3. The phone will display the amount of mobile data you have used in the Current Period, and the amount of data you have used roaming (travelling abroad).

The Current Period is  a random amount of time, and is dependant upon when you started using your iphone, and/or whether. you have reset the time period.

4. If you scroll to the bottom of the screen, you can see when the current period was last reset.

5. Clicking on Reset Statistics will reset the counter to the present day and time.

6. Here I have reset the data counter and as you can see data usage has gone down to zero for both the Current Period, and Current Period Roaming.

7. Here you will see that the date and time of the last reset has been changed.

On the mobile data screen you will also see a list of applications and an of/off toggle switch for whether those applications can operate on mobile data, or require wifi.

8. Please can you look through these and ensure that any applications that use a lot of data are turned off. An example is YouTube which is a streaming service, or any TV apps. These should always be disabled.

Roaming

If you are roaming in Europe, your UK data allowance applies.

If you are roaming outside of Europe, there will be a daily charge for data usage, and an allowance of 500MB data per day. This will be enough for web surfing and checking emails.

If you are travelling outside of Europe, please try and connect to wifi as much as possible

On no account use date while on board an aeroplane or ship - these connections incur enormous charges - as much as £100 per Mb!
