Setting up Onelogin Protect to use the company client vpn
Changes to Security for using the company vpn
In order to make the company vpn more secure, we have added two-factor authentication. There are two things that you will need to check to make sure you can access the company vpn. These are you will have to have configured Onelogin Protect as your Primary method of two-factor authentication within Onelogin, and you will need to make sure that your login username does not have the prefix pickering\ which used to be used in some configurations.
Check that Onelogin Protect is set as your primary authentication method in Onelogin
In order to access the company vpn, Onelogin Protect has to be set as your primary method of authentication. You can check this as follows:
1. Click on your user name within the Onelogin Portal (https://pickering.onelogin.com)
2. Click on Profile
3. Select Security Factors
You will see the security factors you have set up.
Onelogin Protect needs to be set up as the Primary Factor. (4)
If Onelogin isn't in the list of security factors set up Click the Add Factor button to set it up (5)
6. If Onelogin is in the list but isn't the Primary Factor - click on the 3 dots to the right hand side and Set it as Primary
Check that your user name is set up without the prefix pickering
1. Click the search icon on the windows 10 desktop
2. Type vpn in the search bar
3. Select vpn settings
4. Click on your Pickering VPN connection
5. And then select Advanced Options
6. If your user name has the prefix pickering\ this will need to be changed. If it doesn't, then your settings are correct.
7. To change the settings Select the Edit button
8. Make sure the Type of sign-in info is set to User name and password
9. Edit the User name field to just show your user name without the pickering prefix - generally this would be in the format firstname.lastname
10.Click Save.
