3.2.2.5 Semiconductor symbols

Semiconductors symbol names shall be X Y Z where:

  • X = component type:
    • DC2DC
    • DIODE
    • FETN
    • FETN2
    • FETND
    • FETND2
    • FETNPD
    • FETP
    • FETPD
    • IC
    • REG
    • TFT
    • TRANSISTOR
  • Y = base number/type e.g. 74244, SHOTTKY, ZENER, LED, other description
  • Z = optional Package e.g. PIN numbers or package name where devices are available in different pin out packages.

(Note: for Y the numbers should be the base number and not have family details so that the component can be reused for different families for example IC 74244 can be used for  family such as 74HC244, 74LS244, 74HCT244).
