3.2.3.1 General

  1. Alternative footprints shall be selectable when placing the schematic symbol. 
  2. All component footprints shall have a height greater than zero.
  3. All label footprints shall have a default height of 0.1mm.
  4. Designs shall only use mechanical layers 1 to 16 with usage as follows:
  5. Mechanical 1 = PCB outline
  6. Mechanical 2 = Component location details, dimensions, PCB outline, mating PCB outline
  7. Mechanical 3 = Press fit drilling and via information (blind, buried, microvia etc.)
  8. Mechanical 4 = Countersink / counter-bore info
  9. Mechanical 5 = Chamfer info e.g. PCI connector, BRIC daughters
  10. Mechanical 6 = Thickness reduction info
  11. Mechanical 7 = Scoring and Flex-Rigid information
  12. Mechanical 8 = PCB routing and cut-out
  13. Mechanical 13 = 3D body
  14. Mechanical 15 = Courtyard info
  15. Component footprints shall have a 3D extrusion representation or where necessary a STEP model.
  16. 3D representations shall be generic.
