3.1.7.3 Adding Project Parameters

Project Parameters will be required before running the document update script and templates. All the necessary project parameters for documentation are in one place. These parameters are used for the standard Pickering schematic templates, the AutoBOM and a new Draftsman Templates for PCB build information.

A default set of Project Parameters can be added to a project by opening a project and running the DocumentUpdate script (File -> Run Script and select DocumentUpdate).

In many cases you will wish to enter the project parameters manually, these can be saved in a standard text file and can be modified as required to paste into project parameters.

  • Open a project
  • On menu bar: Project -> ProjectOptions
  • Select Parameters tab
  • Manually modify existing parameters, or run script to create them or simply modify the table of text shown below and enter it.

Format of the parameters is:

PI_AddressLine1   Stephenson Road,
PI_AddressLine2   Clacton-on-Sea, Essex,
PI_AddressLine3   CO15 4NL
PI_AddressLine4   United Kingdom
PI_Company  Pickering Interfaces Ltd.
PI_Designer A.N. Engineer
PI_Dk 4.2
PI_MajorRevision  0
PI_MinorRevision  0
PI_PCBMaterial    FR4
PI_PCBNumber      XXXX
PI_ProductBaseModel     XX_XXX
PI_ProductManager A. ProductManager
PI_ProjectDescription   A Switching Module with Complicated Functions
PI_ProjectNumber  NPXXXXXX

These parameters as shown above can be modified and simply pasted in the “Parameters” tab. The script can be run as many times as required to update any changes that are made to the Project Parameters.

To run the Document Update Script

Open a project.

Click: File -> Run Script and select DocumentUpdate

Click OK and the following window will open:

Click OK and this script will open every schematic sheet in your design one-by-one and update the standard template details from your Project Parameters. It will not change sheet number details or page title. Once complete a report will open showing what has been carried out.
