3.2.5 Database requirements

Prior to entering components into the Altium library database, the component must be entered into the X3 inventory system. Before requesting new part are entered it must be ensured that the existing library has been thoroughly searched for suitable devices. If no alternatives are found then use the format and distribution list provided in "email template Component order.txt" for requests, which is available in Q:\DocumentTemplates\.

X3 managers shall provide X3 part numbers when new items are created in the system.

Engineers that are requesting new components for the Altium libraries shall copy the top two lines (up to but not including the green parts) from the relevant component tab in the component.xls spreadsheet that is available in the C:\AltiumPickeringLib\ installation of the Altium tools. These shall be copied into a new spreadsheet for the new component details to be entered and the spreadsheet shall be provided to the library manager.

The engineer shall also supply new device schematics and footprints if none are available in the existing library.

The engineer shall supply a datasheet for the new component which shall come directly from the manufacturer rather than a distributer.

All component data for the library shall be taken directly from the manufacturers datasheet.

Automatic calculation fields shall be highlighted green.
